Strategies for Building Ethical Leadership Competencies in a Co-Curricular Environment

This webinar will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

Employers want to hire graduates who have developed competencies not always taught in the classroom, but often struggle to access data deeper than a student’s resume and GPA. To address this, Alla Hatfi eld (Director of Engagement & Outreach) and Shawn Dommer (Director of Co-Curricular Programs) developed The Smeal Ethical Leadership Challenge (SELC). SELC is a prestigious initiative designed to elevate the student experience by engaging undergraduate students in rich co-curricular and experiential learning opportunities throughout their education. The SELC program focuses on building leadership skills and professional competencies while emphasizing ethics and integrity. Primarily targeted at first-year students. Student participants complete experiences to earn digital badges in Personal and Professional Development, Communication, Collaboration, Service to Others, and Strategic Planning. Tune in to learn more about their program’s structure, dive into their best practices for engaging students in an optional program, and check out core Suitable features that help them perform indirect assessments on their students’ learning.

This event will provide:

  • Best practices for implementing a comprehensive co-curricular engagement program and how to foster student adoption.
  • An inside look at SELC’s chosen competencies, experiences, and digital badges.
  • Insights into how they use indirect assessment to evaluate programming effectiveness.
  • Strategies for utilizing Suitable to drive more student engagement and completion.
  • Live Q&A with the presenters.
